I found out that I will be working on a DMD video with Cameron and Alex, and I contacted Lita and am giving her my schedule and plans on when to take pictures for both A and B days. I want to meet with Cam and Alex and have a meeting to talk over our plans for the film, and also soon rent out a camera and get a hold of some pictures for the ceremony and for the website so I can get started on it.

February 3, 2010Blog Update. New Capstone?
December 11, 2009My partner and I have found that we aren’t that interested in the project anymore and we might go separate ways to find a new capstone to work on. I talked to Jake’s group but they have too many people already, but Nataly and Sarah are in charge of a fashion show and mgiht need help with making the tickets and some other things that they feel overwhelmed with and I might be able to help with that. (As long as I don’t have to BE in the fashion show haha.) So today I’m gonna try to figure out with the girls if I can help them or not.
Status Report
December 2, 2009We have not been able to start because we are working on our individual films for the film festival and it has kept us very busy along with English homework. We will try to meet up this week and start doing alot of work.
For our capstone, Warren and I will begin to make surveys for both teens and adults, both asking different questions. For the students, we want to ask for tips on how we can make an interesting video that kids will listen to, and maybe some music ideas for the video to keep their attention. And for the adults, we want to ask questions around the subject of their knowledge of the affects of reading over time because they used to be teenagers and can maybe share some things that they have learned about how reading affects you in the future.
Research
November 16, 2009Our essential question is “How does reading effect teens futures?.” We want to use surveys and hand them out to teens and adults to help us get opinions of people. We think that the best information will be from the people’s opinions. Just getting info from the internet can be useful, but probably not the best way.
Capstone Update
November 9, 2009Our Capstone’s goal is to encourage teens that don’t regularly read, to do so. We want to show teens that we aren’t encouraging reading as a fun hobby, but as something essential to life. Reading makes you smarter, and we want to show that if you don’t read regularly, it might affect you in a bad way later in life. We’re sure that there are hundreds and hundreds or reading encouragement videos out there, but we want to make one that isn’t boring or seems too “educational”. By adding songs that teens are familiar with, and having interviews of other students about how often they read might make the video more interesting. Attracting attention is our main goal.
We will work on the creative brief, we have just been occupied with the assignments that are actually due soon. And I also emailed Ramstad today with questions about ideas that would help our video.
Status Report
November 6, 2009Warren and I decided this week that we are going to try to get ahole of Ms. Ramstad and arrange a meeting so we can discuss what direction she wants for the film. Because although we can just make a video about encouragement toward reading, we might not explain exact points that she will want. We plan to try to email her to either arrange a meeting or email her and she could just explain it through that.
Status Report
October 28, 2009This week Warren and I started thinking about different scenes that we want in our video. This week we want to try to get ahold of Ms. Ramstad and ask on what specifics she would like in the video. And next week, we can maybe start filming some of our scenes.
Capstone Project Goals
October 13, 2009I plan on learning what it’s like to make a motivational video. We have to convince teens that reading regular makes you smarter than if you barely read. It will help me learn how to use different camera angles and editing effects (along with music) to make a professional film.
We want the film to inspire teens to read more to become smarter. We want to show them the statistics that relate to reading to show them that it is important. Our client will be able to present this video to her classmates. Our client’s goal is probably the same as ours, to inspire teens to read.
CAL Core Outcomes
October 5, 2009Demonstrate personal and professional behaviors that contribute to employability and post-secondary educational success.- Our video will meet this because it needs to be professional but making reading seem fun or interesting will make it an educational success.
Work individually and collaboratively to manage and complete work projects.- When we work together, it will be when we are filming or editing the video. Individual work will be planning while we at home for ideas on the movie.
Use research skills to develop and maintain personal, professional, and technical competence- We will look up other influencial videos to find out effective ways to keep people interested in the movie so that it is effective.
Communicate effectively with diverse audiences through oral presentations, written texts, and graphic media.- There will be talking in the video, narratives, text on the screen, and visual effects to display messages and key points.
Deliverables
October 5, 2009Warren and I want to produce a video showing kids the benefits of reading. The video will be 5 minutes long and will show ways that reading is good for you and fun. We want high school kids to be convinced that reading is a good thing to do, so we have to make it seem worthwhile.
